Alderman David Wootton was today elected as the 684th Lord Mayor of the City of London, to serve from Friday 11 November (Lord Mayor’s Show and fireworks Saturday 12 November).

East-London charity the Bromley by Bow Centre has received a grant of £15,000 from the City of London Corporation to take part in the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Show this year. On Saturday 12 November, the 684th Lord Mayor of London will follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and embark on a procession from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice via St Paul’s Cathedral, and this year, the local Tower Hamlets charity is creating one of the leading floats.

The Haringey-based Pan Nation Steel Orchestra has received a grant of £15,000 from the City of London Corporation to take part in this year’s prestigious Lord Mayor’s Show. A little bit of Magic for a future Lord Mayor?

Peterborough-based Waldburg Equine Services, which provides the team of magnificent shire horses that draws the State Coach at the Lord Mayor’s Show in the City of London, have a cute new recruit – a baby foal named “Magic”. Born on 14 June 2011, Magic weighed in at a healthy 80-100kg and is currently learning the ropes from proud mum Beatrice – the only shire mare to have ever been used in the Coach Team.
