This year’s Lord Mayor’s Show is on Saturday 14 November. Most of the press material related to the Show comes out either at the beginning of October, around the time of the incoming Lord Mayor’s election, or in the two weeks before the Show itself as everything is lined up for the day.
Press Accreditation
There will be two main press points (and a photo opportunity in the Guildhall Yard) and as usual, to gain access photographers and TV crews must apply in advance for accreditation.
Introducing the 2009 Lord Mayor’s Show
On Saturday 14 November, following in the footsteps of his predecessors, the 682nd Lord Mayor of London’s first duty will be to embark on a procession from Mansion House to the Royal Courts as part of the Lord Mayor’s Show.
In a tradition dating back to 1215 and enshrined in the charter of King John, each new Lord Mayor is required to swear a pledge of allegiance to the Sovereign in front of the Lord Chief Justice and Judges of the Queen’s Bench Division. An established highlight of London’s social calendar, the Lord Mayor’s Show attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
For more information please see the introduction to the 2009 Show.
